Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Mike Otworth is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PureCycle Technologies. Mike is also the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Innventure, the parent company of PureCycle. Prior to Innventure, Mike served as President and Founding Partner of Green Ocean Innovation for six years. Green Ocean provided technology sourcing and innovation strategy and development services to Lilly/Elanco Animal Health primarily focusing on therapeutics, diagnostics, and various medical devices. Prior to Green Ocean, Mike served as Vice-President and Founding CEO of multiple start-ups at XL TechGroup (XLTG), which founded, capitalized and advanced companies successfully to late-stage funding. Six of the late-stage funding events included IPOs in New York and London creating $4.5 billion in market value. Mike began his career on Capitol Hill working as a legislative aide and committee staff member in the U.S. House of Representative after attending Otterbein University and Ohio State University.
Chief Financial Officer
Larry Somma has nearly three decades of experience in the corporate finance sector at world-class publicly traded companies within the plastics, manufacturing, hospitality, and consumer goods industries. Most recently, Somma spent eight years at LyondellBasell Industries N.V., where he served as vice president of finance strategy and transformation for two years and vice president, corporate treasurer for six years. In his role as vice president of finance strategy and transformation he was responsible for establishing and executing an operating model and organizational design for the global finance team, as well as creating an enterprise-wide strategy for shared services and end-to-end global process excellence. He also directed and oversaw all transactional finance activities, enterprise risk management and data analytics and automation.
Prior to LyondellBasell, Larry was with Hyatt Hotels Corporation where he held both the Senior Vice President, Real Estate and Capital Strategy and Senior Vice President and Treasurer positions during his tenure. Before Hyatt, Larry worked for Lennar Corporation, Sara Lee Corporation, Fisher Scientific International and General Motors Corporation in different finance roles, including an expatriate assignment in London, England.
Larry has Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering as well as a Master of Engineering degree in engineering management from Cornell University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from State University of New York at Buffalo.
Chief Commercial Officer
David Brenner has served as the Company’s Chief Commercial Officer since August 2020. He also served as PCT’s Chief Integration Officer from January 2017 to August 2020. Prior to joining PCT, Mr. Brenner was a Senior Solution Manager, from September 2016 to November 2016, and a Manager, from September 2012 to September 2016, at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a division of a multinational professional services network. Mr. Brenner’s prior experience also includes leading the implementation of Electronic Medical Records for orthopedic surgeons, modernizing flagship applications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and supporting the implementation of the Affordable Care Act at Health Care Service Corporation. He earned his MBA from Texas A&M and holds a B.A. in Business Administration, Operations Management from The University of Texas.
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Manufacturing Officer
As a business leader based in Shanghai with responsibilities for Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East, and India specialty polymer business units, Dustin led the successful regional integration of two major companies, achieved year-over-year financial growth, and built a strong organizational and project foundation. Prior activities and achievements include successful completion of major turnarounds (>$200MM), start-up of small, mid-sized, and large-scale new construction projects, and two new business start-up activities. He won several local and external recognitions, including the 2015 Coker person of the year for his work to implement a novel process safety innovation within the Refining Coking Technology. Olson holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, a masters in chemical engineering from the University of Houston, and a masters in business administration from Rice University. He strongly supports numerous educational endeavors as a Board Member for the Industrial Advisor Counsel at the University of Missouri-Rolla Department of Chemical Engineering (2009-12), the Rice University Jones School Alumni (2010-13), and the Steeleville High School Foundation (current).
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Brad Kalter has served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since January 2021. Mr. Kalter served as General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of United Insurance Holdings Corp., a property and casualty insurance holding company, from February 2019 to January 2021. From October 2015 to February 2019, Mr. Kalter served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Exide Technologies (“Exide”), a battery manufacturing and energy storage business, overseeing global legal from 2015 to February 2019. Mr. Kalter was responsible for overseeing the legal functions of the organization including corporate governance, compliance, litigation and subsidiary management, as well as overseeing legal aspects of corporate financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Kalter previously served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Exide from 2009 to September 2015 and also as Exide’s Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from 2006 to 2008. Prior to joining Exide, Mr. Kalter served as General Counsel at Cotton States Insurance Group, a multi-line insurance group, from 1999 through 2003. Mr. Kalter holds a J.D. from Emory University and a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Sustainability Officer
Ms. Ettefagh has over 32 years of experience in the areas of recycling and plastics recycling, including implementing a recycling collection program, running the recycling operations for a manufacturing recycling facility, purchasing raw materials, and selling recycled resins for plastic recycling companies. Previous to PureCycle, she worked as a Senior Consultant both in an independent capacity and for major consulting firms in the plastics recycling space, focusing on strategy and implementation to advancements in process, primarily in polyolefins. She has consulted for agencies, banks, potential plastic manufacturers on market conditions, types of supply, and how to evolve and diversify markets for recycled resins. Ms. Ettefagh has been an avid public speaker at conferences, symposiums, and in webinars for the past 25 years, and served on several Boards, including the Sustainable Packaging Coalition from 2019 to 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Texas A&M University.
